Evoking the feeling of sunflowers bending their heads toward the sun, this piece by Ian Drummond features 800 sunflowers slowly turning. The installation showcases sunflowers slowly emerging, into magnificent flowers before eventually wilting under a bright sun and represents the artist’s turning point within his life. The slow-turning of the sunflowers represents his decision to fully commit his life to horticultural and botanical design. With the sunflowers overlooking the urban city, they represent Ian overlooking the metropolis and blooming within a concrete context – nature continues to grow within a deep concrete setting in a typically sunless London, and the sunflowers bring a sense of hope and beauty.
The process will be documented in film through a web camera and will be available to view on www.livingwithnatureshow.com
